On the eve of the big match between Wales and New Zealand youngsters from the Future Blues scheme had a chance to take part in a training session with four players and two coaches from the All Blacks, all organised by adidas.
All Blacks players Anthony Boric, Stephen Donald, Hosea Gear and Liam Messam were joined by coaches Steve Hansen and Mick Byrne in leading a training session for 30 school children from Llanishen High School in Cardiff.
The event was part of adidas and the All Blacks commitment to making a contribution to the future of rugby, and to pass on their values of solidarity, team spirit, authenticity and performance to the local communities they visit on their end of year tour.
Nick Drake, adidas global head of rugby said: The day was fantastic, it was great to see the All Black players and coaches motivate and excite the children about rugby. adidas aim is to make a lasting impression on the future of the sport and this is one way we can inspire the players of tomorrow.
During the day the 12 14 year old school children received adidas kit and the opportunity to learn new techniques from some of the best players and coaches in the world. The All Blacks took the children through a number of specific drills and passed on unique training tips and advice to the school children on aspects of rugby including rucks and tackling.
The players and coaches from were joined by the Cardiff Blues Future Blues coaches in leading the hour long training session.
The Future Blues scheme promotes grassroots rugby within the Cardiff Blues region and Nadine Griffiths, Future Blues Development Officer said Its great the Future Blues Development Officers can welcome The All Blacks and adidas to the Arms Park. They have given the children a day to remember. Its great to see them inspiring them to work hard at their rugby, and who knows one day they may face the All Blacks across the road at the Millennium Stadium!
New Zealand will play in an International match against Wales on Saturday 22 November at the Millennium Stadium as part of their autumn tour.
