With five games remaining of the Guinness PRO14 campaign, the race for a spot in the top three of Conference A lies firmly in the hands of Wales' Capital Region.
After securing an impressive victory against Edinburgh on Saturday, where replacement Jason Harries was the spark for a dramatic comeback, Cardiff Blues drew level on points with Connacht, edging the Irish province to third place on point difference.
The win also pushes John Mulvihill’s side three points clear of Ospreys and six ahead of Toyota Cheetahs, with their three closest rivals all losing over the weekend.
Next up for the Blues is a return to the Welsh capital on Saturday, where they welcome Isuzu Southern Kings to the famous Cardiff Arms Park for the first time.
Three of their final five games are home, including the final day clash against Ospreys at Principality Stadium, with Scarlets also set to visit the Welsh capital.
There are back-to-back trips to Ireland to take on Munster and Connacht, making for a mouth-watering end to the campaign.
A third-placed finish would keep the Blues in the hunt for the Guinness PRO14 title, placing them in the quarter final, while it would also retain their spot in next season’s Heineken Champions Cup.
