Attack Coach Paul John believes the recent LV=Cup period has been a boost for Blues - as they finished the competition with a ruthless 35-5 win over champions Harlequins.
Filo Paulo, Gavin Evans, Dan Fish, Tom Williams and Marc Breeze all crossed as the home side completed an emphatic win over a powerful Quins side.
And John believes that performance, and the display last week in defeat to Bath Rugby, had given plenty of positives for Blues as they prepare to return to RaboDirect PRO12 action next weekend at Munster.
“We’ve enjoyed the LV=Cup,” said John. “We have played different opposition and it has given players the opportunity to show what they can do. The squad have responded really well.
“The last two weeks we have got a lot out of it from a squad point of view and to finish with a win is a big positive.
“This period has been good for us. Harlequins came here to play today which was good, it gave us a real test and I’m sure the fans enjoyed watching that game.”
John also gave a positive update on fly half Gareth Davies who was helped off after four minutes of the LV=Cup game at a wet and windy Arms Park.
He added: “Gareth seems fine and chirpy so we’ll see how he goes. We hope to see him next Saturday against Munster.”
