Cardiff Blues can confirm the coaching set up for 2008/09, which sees Justin Burnell join the Cardiff Blues as Forwards Coach.
Speaking of the appointment, Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby David Young said,
Finally weve put all the pieces together. As always, negotiations take a bit of time, especially when those parties are in other jobs.
I will remain as Director of Rugby. Justin Burnell will be our new Forwards Coach. Justin has come from the Blues Academy, having been the Director of the Academy for five years and has done an excellent job there.
Also on his C.V. hes coached Wales Under 19s to the Grand Slam and fourth in the Junior FIRA World Cup. He has also coached Pontypridd and Cardiff RFC. Hes obviously looking forward to his opportunity and Im 100% confident hell do a great job.
When Richard Webster left a season ago we had trouble finding the right person to fill the role of Forwards Coach. We asked Dan Baugh to step out of his conditioning role to help out for one season, which is what happened, and he did extremely well. He was a great help to us last season but he wants to follow a career in conditioning. He joins Trystan Bevan and Chris Tombs in our conditioning team.
Weve already announced Bill Millard as our Backs Coach and Gareth Baber our new Skills Coach. These appointments round off our coaching team nicely and puts us in line with other coaching teams across Europe.
