Honorary Fellowship of USW for Blues Chairman

16th December 2014

Cardiff Blues Chairman Peter Thomas CBE was this week made an Honorary Fellow of the University of South Wales at this week's winter Graduation ceremonies.

The Blues supremo was made an Honorary Fellow of the University in recognition of his commitment to business and entrepreneurship.

Peter Thomas started his business career by building national company Peter’s Savoury Products with his father, brother and sister, perhaps now better known as Peter’s Pies. After selling the business in 1988, he went on to create Atlantic Property Developments Plc.

His other great passion is rugby and, as Chairman of Cardiff Blues, is passionate about helping to deliver European success to supporters of the region.

He was appointed CBE in 2012 for services to business, sport and charitable work in Wales.

On receiving his Honorary Fellowship, Peter Thomas said: “The importance of education can never be underestimated, in order to learn about the working world, to become streetwise and to use your skills to better your position in employment.

“It is fantastic to see so many students having realised their potential and collecting their degrees today. I would like to offer them my congratulations and wish them every success in whatever their chosen endeavours.”

Professor Julie Lydon, Vice Chancellor of the University of South Wales, said: “The University recognises the commitment that so many people play to the economic, social and cultural life of South Wales and the world.

"Honorary Fellowships are a fitting way of celebrating these achievements and we are delighted to award Peter with this accolade.”

Everyone at Cardiff Blues would like to congratulate Peter Thomas on his Honorary Fellowship at the University of South Wales.
