Prop Sam Hobbs is determined to help Cardiff Blues defend a proud unbeaten European record at the Arms Park this season - and admits the final pool clash with Exeter Chiefs has a cup final feel to it.
Blues know victory over English outfit Exeter in the final Pool 2 fixture on Saturday (kick-off 3.40pm) should secure a place in the last eight of European competition this season.
A positive result would also mean Blues have secured the scalps of Glasgow Warriors, Exeter Chiefs and champions Toulon at the Arms Park.
And with the stakes so high, Hobbs knows the Blues have to be at their best and go ‘hell for leather’ for a big win.
“We have a chance to win all three Heineken Cup home games - at the start of the season not many people would have said we could do that,” he said.
“That would be a big achievement for our young squad. We want to win three from three at home and have a chance to get in a quarter-final of European rugby. It is a cup final mentality for us. We have to make sure we go hell for leather for it.
“We are not a finished article, we know we have a lot of areas to improve, but the attitude from us is every game going forward we control what we can control, make sure we are mentally prepared.
“Exeter are a really good side in the Aviva Premiership and I know they have a lot of ex-Blues down there who will want to come up and prove a point in the Arms Park.
“They will definitely want to get the double and beat us twice so I’m fully expecting a fully loaded team to turn up on Saturday to face us. Exeter really are the full package. We need to make sure we are on top form in all areas.
“We want to finish our group with a bang and possibly get a quarter-final spot in a European competition. It is all leading to winner takes all cup final situation for us.”
