Jevon Groves will captain Cardiff Blues as they bid for glory at the home of English rugby when they take part in the World Club 7s tournament at Twickenham this weekend.
Twelve teams, from seven nations, will take part in the World Club 7s in London on Saturday, August 16 and Sunday, August 17.
Cardiff Blues join Siberia's RC Enisei, Australia's NSW Waratahs and USA's Seattle for their World Club 7s debuts as 12 of the best club 7s sides from across the world battle it out over two days of high-octane rugby.
Blues have named a 12-man squad for the two-day tournament that will see Blues tackle Buenos Aires, Gloucester Rugby and Vodacom Blue Bulls on day one.
All teams will compete on day one, before dividing into three Cup competitions on day two, with the leading sides competing for the chance to be crowned the best club 7s side in rugby.
Scrum half Lloyd Williams is named in the squad and there are also call-ups for Simon Humberstone and Rory Watts-Jones.
Luke Morgan, fresh from his heroics at the Commonwealth Games with Wales Sevens, is also named after impressing in the Premiership Rugby 7s Series.
Paul John, Attack Coach at Cardiff Blues and former Wales Sevens boss, said: “It’s a big tournament at Twickenham and we want to perform well as we represent Wales.
“We have some Wales Sevens experience in our squad and also some very talented youngsters who have shown up well on recent weeks in 7s competition.
“It is an opportunity for the boys to play even more competitive rugby and get some real conditioning. It is a great chance for us to look at the whole squad over this weekend of rugby.
“It is a little bit of a step into the unknown as we come up against teams like Buenos Aires and Vodacom Blue Bulls on day one. But we want to perform and if we can reproduce the levels of recent weeks we can do well in this tournament.”
