Ethan Lewis extends his Arms Park stay

First Team News | 17th May 2019

Ethan Lewis is the latest player to pledge his future to Cardiff Blues with a long-term contract on #FrontRowFriday.

The hooker has enjoyed an impressive season at the Arms Park, making 14 appearances to take his overall tally to 43.

And he follows on from Rhys Gill, Brad Thyer and Kirby Myhill by signing a new deal to remain at Wales’ Capital Region.

Lewis, 25, said: “Like a lot of the boys here, this is my home region and a team I am passionate about.

“I have come right through the system here and there are so many of us who have progressed together, which is really promising. To train and play alongside so many friends is also a privilege.

“The competition at hooker is fierce but that is something we all enjoy and I am looking forward to improving as a player and ultimately a squad.”

The former Wales age-grade international will continue to compete with Kristian Dacey, Myhill and Liam Belcher for a first team spot and head coach John Mulvihill has been pleased with his progress.

Mulvihill said: “Ethan brings a physical presence and an abundance of energy both in attack and defence. He is a very strong carrier of the ball, who brings real dynamism to our running game, while he is also a solid hitter in defence and has brought big improvements to our set-piece.

“Ethan will continue to improve with the competition at hooker and those boys will only drive each other on for the betterment of the entire squad.”
