Cardiff Rugby have today used Summerfest to launch their 2024-25 Macron match kits atop of the Principality Stadium’s Scale.
First team stars Ben Thomas and Josh Adams climbed to the top of the national stadium to be photographed in the new sustainable jerseys made from Eco Fabric technology, against the back-drop of the iconic Arms Park and the Cardiff Skyline.
Unsurprisingly, the home shirt is blue and black, combining the traditional hoops with a modern twist. The hoops are outlines by a thin white line, while the blue is made up of several Pantones in a fade effect, representing the sea and three rivers that travel through the city.
The Cardiff Rugby badge appears on the left. The year of foundation of the club, 1876, is embroidered in white at the back of the neck. A large band of black inside is at the bottom of the shirt's back.
Black shorts with side bands complete the new 'Home' kit in the same graphic design as the shirt. The socks are sky blue with a black top and a black band outlined with white lines around the middle. The date 1876 appears on the front, just above the ankle, while the Macron Hero appears at the back.
The alternate jersey sees a return to the traditional red and black with elegant gold details, inspired by the ‘Villa Cardiff’ logo, which features a red and gold charge with three chevrons. This Coat of Arms features on numerous historic buildings around the city to this day and has intermittently been used in Cardiff Rugby caps since the late 1800s.
The shorts are red with black bands and gold details down the sides. The socks, too, are red with a black band at the top. The date 1876 appears in gold at the front, while behind, at calf level, is a gold Macron Hero.
The sleeves and shoulders of both jerseys are decorated with tone-on-tone chevrons from the Cardiff Rugby badge, while the back of both are also embossed with the ‘Villa Cardiff’ logo.
The Body Fit shirts are made from Eco Armevo with Eco Bodytex and Eco Strong Mesh inserts for maximum strength, lightness, and breathability.
Replica versions of the new kits and all the other items in Macron's teamwear collection for Cardiff Rugby are available exclusively at the Arms Park at Summerfest and can be purchased from the section of the macron.com website dedicated to the club from Tuesday, 27th August.
