Cardiff Blues have received confirmation they will face Leinster in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 7 April, 5.45pm kick off
The Blues reached the quarter finals with a dramatic 36 point to 30 win over Racing Metro last Sunday. Now the Blues must travel to Dublin to face Heineken Cup champions Leinster, on Saturday 7 April, 5.45pm kick off, at the Aviva Stadium.
Speaking of the news Cardiff Blues backs coach Gareth Baber said:
“We are delighted to have qualified for the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup.”
“When we saw our group at the start of the season we thought there would be a chance of progressing. Obviously that was a target of ours and we’ve done it. It was built on hard graft over the pool stages.”
“We have a huge fixture against Leinster to look forward to and the players are up for it.”
“To progress in the competition we need a victory against the champions and there would be no better way to do it.”
Speaking of the tremendous support the Blues have received, Baber added,
“During Sunday’s match the supporters were very vocal, especially on that far side from where Justin and I were sitting, which certainly added to the atmosphere.”
“We could hear the support from the first minute to the final whistle. They made themselves heard, which is fantastic.”
“They are massively important to us and I’m sure the players would echo that.”
“The support we had out in Paris and London Irish was phenomenal and hopefully there will be good numbers coming over to Dublin.”
Ticket news for this fixture will be posted on www.cardiffblues.com when we receive details from ERC.
