Cardiff Blues stars Rhys Williams, Tom Shanklin and Nick Robinson will be joining thousands of people in Wales on Friday for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning to raise a much needed £300,000 for people affected by cancer in Wales.
Macmillan Cancer Support's the World's Biggest Coffee Morning is a world-breaking event and one of the largest fundraising events in Wales. Last year nearly two million people across the UK stirred themselves into action by hosting or attending coffee events across the UK. Last year, a staggering £6.5 million was raised across the UK as a whole, with £275,000 raised in Wales.
One in three people will get cancer. In Wales, 16,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every year. All money raised last year helped Macmillan be a source of practical, medical, emotional and financial support to those affected by cancer. So every cup of coffee sold yesterday really does count and every £1 raised can really make a difference to help people through their cancer journey. For example:
£22 could provide information about cancer, its treatment and care, to 100 people £50 to buy a liquidizer for someone who can't eat solid food because of their illness £100 could allow someone with cancer to keep the heating on when they really need it
£144 could fund a Macmillan nurse for a day £350 could pay for a much-needed holiday for someone with cancer and also for their carer
Supporting the event, Rhys Williams said, "The boys and I are really pleased to help Macmillan Cancer Support promote their World's Biggest Coffee Morning as every cup counts!"
