Cardiff Blues South U18 secured a 34-10 bonus point victory over RGC at Cardiff Arms Park, ahead of Tuesday's crucial derby clash against Cardiff Blues North at Sardis Road (KO 7.00pm)
Sunday's clash was Cardiff Blues South's first match under the new coaching team of Gareth Nicholas, Sam Campbell and Cardiff Blues squad members Josh Turnbull and Macauley Cook.
It took only six minutes for Jacob Beetham to open the scoring for the hosts, but the visitors soon bounced back to take the lead, with scrum half Andrew McMinimee crossing the whitewash and Sam Earl-Jones converting.
Beetham and Earl-Jones exchanged a pair of penalties, with RGC heading into the interval with a 8-10 lead.
Cardiff Blues South showed determination to work their way back into the game and were rewarded as replacement Ioan Davies put the home side back ahead in the second half, before tries from Harry Boxhall and James Bartlett secured the bonus point and gave Nicholas' side breathing space on the scoreboard.
Beetham crossed for his second try of the afternoon in the latter stages of the game, taking his personal tally to 19 points.
