Cardiff Rugby can confirm that academy outside half Ben Burnell has been released from his contract and joins Jersey Reds with immediate effect.
The Wales under-20 international came through the Blue and Blacks’ pathway and made his senior debut in November’s friendly clash with Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate.
Burnell has also represented Cardiff RFC and Pontypridd in the Indigo Group Premiership, but now makes the switch to join Jersey, who currently sit in second place in the Championship table.
Academy manager, Gruff Rees, said: “We want to thank Ben for his contribution to Cardiff Rugby throughout his time within our pathway
“It has been great to see him mature and develop as both a player and person during his time with the club. Working his way through multiple injuries and lockdown has been a challenge for Ben, but his talent and appetite for the game remains.
