Blues Women became regional champions for the first time in the history of the competition recently. The squad is picked from all the Women's clubs within the region.
The final match of the competition this season saw Blues take on the Ospreys, who had won the regional competition for the last two years and who went into the match two points ahead of the Blues.
The game started at a fast pace with Blues exerting some good early pressure which led to the Ospreys giving away a penalty that Robyn Wilkins slotted over to make the score 3-0.
Ospreys hit back with a try to take the lead, but Wilkins added two kicks to put her side back ahead before a late score from Laurie Harries secured the win and title.
Head Coach Nadine Griffiths said: “It has been an honour and pleasure to coach the Blues Women this year. Their commitment on and off the field has been outstanding which showed itself on the pitch in the final game with Ospreys. There has been a great level of skill and talent on display which I’m sure will cause the national coaches a few headaches in selection.”
