Cardiff Blues under 20s lost out to Neath Swansea Ospreys 16-10 in the latest round of games in the WRU Regional Championships.
The Blues led 10-3 at half time courtesy of tries from Chris Czekaj and Jamie Roberts with James Dixon replaying with a penalty for the Ospreys.
However, two more Dixon penalties and a try from David Watts, which Dixon converted, ended the Blues hopes in front of the watching Rob Howley.
He said, I have stayed in touch with the games all season and it was great to have a chance to come and see what could prove to be a really important game in the competition.
We are trying hard in Wales to develop our own players and this particular competition is proving successful in those terms. The young players on view here tonight were outstanding and I am sure that a handful of them have really bright futures in the game.
In the other game, the Newport Gwent Dragons lost 41-10 to Llanelli Scarlets at Rodney Parade.
On Tuesday evening, the Blues under 18s lost 16-13 to the Ospreys, leaving only Cardiff Blues South as victors in the latest round following their 7- 3 victory over Llanelli Scarlets.
