Cardiff Blues will be aiming to take off in 2014 and hit the heights - after the region's main sponsor EADS was rebranded as the "Airbus Group".
The global aerospace and defence firm have been fantastic supporters of the Blues since 2008 and struck a new three-year shirt sponsorship deal in 2013.
EADS have now successfully rebranded as the “Airbus Group” and so the Blues playing jersey will now carry a striking new logo. The players will appear in the new-look shirt for the first time this Saturday when they tackle Toulon in the Heineken Cup in Nice.
The Airbus Group is a global pioneer in aeronautics, space and defence related services, creating cutting-edge technology.
In 2012, the Group – that now comprises Airbus, Airbus Defence and Space, and Airbus Helicopters – generated revenues of €56.5 billion and employed a workforce of over 140,000.
Its UK defence and research base, just off the M4 between Newport and Cardiff, offers integrated systems and solutions to the new challenges confronting the armed forces, government and emergency services and employs nearly 1,000 staff.
Richard Holland, Chief Executive at Blues, said: “We are delighted to support the Airbus Group through this successful rebrand and continue our fantastic relationship into 2014 and beyond.
“Our playing jerseys will now proudly display the new brand, starting against Toulon this weekend, and the Arms Park will also carry the new logo starting with our home game with Exeter Chiefs.”
Airbus Group CEO Tom Enders said: “For many years, Airbus has been a globally renowned synonym for technology breakthrough as well as aeronautic passion and pride.
“Joining forces under the strong Airbus brand gives all our operations and employees the thrust and lift to capture global markets.”
Supporters who have purchased a replica jersey this season can also get re-branded for FREE thanks to the Airbus Group.
The firm is providing the equipment so shirts can be changed at the Cardiff Blues Store and the service will be available in the coming weeks.
Full details of the shirt rebranding service will be announced next week. Keep checking www.cardiffblues.com for the latest details.
