Blues pay tribute as we remember the fallen

2nd November 2014

A huge thank you to all the fans - from both Cardiff Blues and Munster Rugby - who made Saturday's Guinness PRO12 fixture at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park such a special occasion as we paid our respects ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

November is the time of the year when we wear a red poppy in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for us during wars. And it was a 'A Day to Remember' at the home of the Blues as we joined forces with the Welsh Transport Regiment (WTR) for a day of remembrance.

Our pre-match entertainment was provided by the Parachute Regiment Military Band and WTR Corps of Drums.

A long bugler then played The Last Post and we had a special wreath laying ceremony on the pitch prior to kick-off with Peter Thomas, Chairman of Cardiff Blues, and Major General Ranald Munro.

The game also marked the one year anniversary of Cardiff Blues signing of the Corporate Covenant. Blues became one of the first rugby club's in the UK to sign the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant in 2013.

The covenant is a written and publicised voluntary pledge from ourselves to demonstrate our concrete support for the armed forces and how we recognise the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to our region.

Thank you for all your support on a special day of Remembrance at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.
