Speaking after the Cardiff Blues had secured their place in the last eight, winning 17-0 against Bristol, David Young said,
We certainly pulled out a big performance when it really mattered and I think it was a reward for the way the team have played all the way through the European campaign. Every game we played we came away with something.
We are far more equipped now to come to these places and get the result. I dont think many people thought we would dominate as much as we did. The first thing we wanted to do was win the game and at 17-0 up our minds set on getting the third try for the home draw, but Bristol are a proud team and werent going to roll over for us.
Weve all recognised our improvements season on season. Were moving in the right direction, and its a big reward for the hard work the players have put in, the supporters who have stuck by us over the years and also Peter Thomas, who has stuck through us over the difficult times.
I dont think anyone will give us a chance against Toulouse, but weve beaten Bath, Munster and Bristol away and we strongly believe we can go there and win.
The quarter-finals on the weekend of 4 / 5 / 6 April will be:
Saracens (1) v Ospreys (8)
London Irish (2) v Perpignan (7)
Gloucester Rugby (3) v Munster (6)
Toulouse (4) v Cardiff Blues (5)
