Cardiff Blues were dealt a blow ahead of their match against the Border Reivers with the news that Andy Powell will be out of action for six months after injuring his left shoulder in the match against Ulster last weekend.
The results of a scan received today revealed that Powell will need shoulder reconstruction surgery. It is a particularly cruel blow for Powell who has missed most of this season with an identical injury to his right shoulder, sustained in the friendly match against Bristol in August. He had worked hard to get his fitness back and played well for the Blues in their wins over Edinburgh and Ulster and it is now thought he will be sidelined until October.
