A record crowd of 48, 990, made up largely of home support, were at the stadium to watch one of the most dramatic finals of the tournament's history. However, hundreds of Blues fans had made the journey to the south of France and made their presence felt.
In the sweltering heat Cardiff Blues trailed Toulon at half time but a superb second half comeback saw the Blues run in three tries, and go on to win the match in style by 28 points to 21.
